The terrain is served by 7 lifts, including Montana's only high-speed, six-passenger chair. At Moonlight Basin you'll have lots of elbow room, short or no lift lines and no crowds. Plus, the terrain's northerly exposure ensures the more than 400 inches of powder that falls each year stays light and dry.

The Headwaters Chair brings skiers and riders in The Headwaters Terrain, some of the steepest inbounds terrain in the Rockies previously only accessible by hiking. Future expansion plans include 3,500 acres and 12 lifts, positioning Moonlight as an attractive addition to Montana's ski areas.

Moonlight Basin and Big Sky Resort have teamed up to offer joint lift tickets. Now, skiers and riders can access nearly 5,300 acres of interconnected trails and lifts, all with one ticket.

Skiing is not the only activity that makes Moonlight Basin unique. Visitors can also enjoy spa treatments, a health club, dogsledding, snowshoe tours, ice-skating, and swimming in a heated outdoor pool. A concierge service is available to arrange a variety of local activities, including tours of Yellowstone National Park, fly fishing, rafting, canoeing, mountain bike tours, guided hiking tours and rock climbing. And in 2009, Moonlight Basin unveiled its own Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course.

Lech and its higher neighbor Zrs are the most glamorous and expensive resorts in Austria.

Their shared slopes could fairly easily be linked with those of St.Anton - but then their rich and royal visitors would be forced to mingle with hoi polloi from their equally famous but less exclusive neighbor.

Lech is for those who don't mind fur coats, do like well groomed, snow sure, cruising slopes, and are content to enjoy a winter holiday in pampered comfort and style in a traditional Alpine village.

There are challenging slopes available (mainly off-slope) and the tougher slopes of St.Anton are only a short bus- or car-ride away.

But it is the part-timer, who enjoys the apres and the strolling as much as the winter sports who will get the most out of the resort. It helps to have a deep pocket.

More than most winter sports countries, Andorra invites generalizations. 8Because it's such a small country, all the resort villages are remarkably 8similar, having almost all the same pluses and minuses: low prices (including 8duty-free goods), ugly villages, lively bars and clubs, good ski schools, 8fairly reliable snow, young clientele, mainly easy, well groomed, and often 8busy slopes with plenty of snowmaking facilities and mediocre mountain 8restaurants, are all fairly typical of Andorran resorts across the board.
There's an immediate temptation to compare Andorra to Eastern Europe. Some of 8the below pluses and minuses would be appropriate to Borovets and company, 8too. But Andorra really is in a different league.
