Aspen/Snowmass celebrates the opening of The Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center
In 2007-2008, Aspen Skiing Company will unveil The Treehouse Kids' Adventure Center at Snowmass base village. This $17 million project is the largest capital project the company has developed in its history and will open in November for the 2007-2008 season.

Snowmass has undergone a renaissance in the last two years with on-mountain and ski area facility improvements, totaling over $45 million (including summer 2007). Improvements include the Village Express six-pack lift and Sky Cab gondola in the 2005-2006 season and the new Elk Camp Gondola for the 2006-2007 season. For the 2007-2008 season the new Elk Camp Meadows beginner's area will debut at the top of the Elk Camp Gondola with a new quad chair, two new surface lifts and six acres of terrain exclusively dedicated to beginners. The entire base village project is slated for completion in 2011.

Snow Storms hit Whistler Blackcomb - Early Opening Considered for Powder Hungry Skiers and Snowboarders
Mother Nature dumped over 80 centimetres of snow on Whistler Blackcomb on Monday bringing the mountain’s snow base to 108 centimetres/43 inches. The Environment Canada Alpine Forecast is calling for a small reprieve from the intense weather Tuesday and Wednesday before storms pummel the mountains again on Thursday and Friday with 20-40 centimetres forecasted.

Operations crews and all front line staff are going full steam ahead to prepare the mountains for the upcoming winter season. Official opening day is November 22 but with outstanding snowfall this week an early opening is being considered.
