Mary-Claire and Leo Demelbauer, Escorted Trip Manager and Travel Consultant

Mary-Claire was born in Neuchâtel located in the French part of Switzerland. She was on skis for the first time at age 4.5 and loved it ever since.

She raced in Alpine events at the regional level for 5 years; she then switched to teaching skiing and majored in Physical Education. After receiving her Swiss Ski Instructor certification, she came to MT Tom Ski Area, MA to teach for one season, and never left, as she met her future husband Leo, a native of Austria at the ski school. She has been teaching skiing full-time and now part-time ever since.

She taught French in Jr – Sr High School for 14 years and received her Masters from U Mass in Teaching of French. For 10 years she was the Head of the Foreign Language Department at Granby Jr Sr High School, MA. During these years, with her husband she organized Educational and Ski trips for students, teachers and other people in the community; this lead them to co-found Educational

Adventures/Adventures on Skis in 1978. They sold the company in 2000 and have continued to be involved in the Industry. She and Leo love guiding their escorted trips to the Alps and have clients share some beautiful experiences.

When not skiing, Mary-Claire loves to travel, windsurf, bike, swim, work out and many other sports. She is fluent in French, English German and gets by in Italian and basic Spanish. Her goal is to ski when she is 100 years old!
